Marine organisms are a valuable source of new compounds, many which have remarkable biotechnological properties, such as microalgae and cyanobacteria, attracted special attention to develop industrial production routes. These biologically active molecules in nature, including antioxidants, immunostimulants, antivirals, antibiotics, hemagglutinates, polyunsaturated fatty acids, peptides, proteins, biofuels, pigments. The use several technologies improve biomass production, the first step, processes schemes been addressed with different accomplishments. It is critical consider all steps involved producing bioactive compound, species strain selection, nutrient supply required support productivity, type photobioreactor, downstream processes, namely extraction, recovery, purification. In general, two product can be mentioned; one for large amounts product, biodiesel or any other biofuel feeding purposes; when will used human health domain, etc. Several applications documented. usefulness an application each determined by growth production.
